DMC members benefit from an extensive list of educational services and teaching tools.
TEACHER EDUCATION
DMC offers a Teacher Rejuvenation Day which consists of a full day workshop held annually for teachers. Classes include seminars, and introductions to new teaching disciplines.
DMA provides manuals and other training aids that are being utilized in dance studios, schools, colleges, universities and other dance institutions throughout the world. Continual updates of the manuals make them a living instrument of learning.
DMA offers an extensive variety of dance education for dance professionals. Some disciplines include but are not limited to; traditional dance forms, ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, hip hop, liturgical, and acrobatics.
DMA offers instruction in anatomy, injury prevention, nutrition, kinesiology, creative movement, music theory, choreography and additional instruction which address the realities of dance communities.
DMA Newsletters and Magazines are published throughout the year allowing the membership to stay on the cutting edge of the activities of the organization.
TEACHERS TRANNING SCHOOL
DMA Teachers Training School Program is an outstanding and respected educational venue for dance teachers. The program provides a comprehensive curriculum, an outstanding faculty, a unique focus on technique and teaching skills, and the nurturing of camaraderie among, established teachers as well as those just starting their careers. Held at the University of Buffalo, TTS offers five full days of dance study, occurring annually each summer.
FALL CONVENTION
Annual Winter Workshop which features a day of classes for students with guest faculty from across the nation, a Solo Title Competition, and a special teacher class. (Studio participation is mandatory if students are wish to enter the P.A.C and/or Solo Title Competition.)
SCHOLARSHIPS
DMA offers more than $200,00.00 in monetary and educational scholarships. Scholarships are granted for master classes, training school, universities, and major professional schools of dance. These Scholarships are offered annually to its members and their students.
SOLO TITLE COMPETITION
Held annually in January, soloists compete in Petite, Master, Junior,Teen, Miss and Mister categories. The competition includes interviews, audition classes and the opportunity to learn an opening number in addition to a solo performance. Winners will receive a scholarship to compete at Nationals against other chapters within the same calendar year.
PERFORMING ARTS COMPETITION
An annual competition in which solos, duets, trios and groups compete. Participants must have attended the DMC fall workshop within the same calendar year
NATIONAL CONVENTION
The governing body of DMC, (Dance Masters of America) offers the most extensive variety of dance education effecting today's dance professionals. Occurring annually, the event includes Solo Title competitions, workshops, and a Performing Arts competition.
