MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Dance Masters of America offers the most extensive variety of dance education effecting today's dance professionals. Some of the disciplines included are Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Liturgical, Pre-school, Children's work, Acrobatics and HipHop. DMA also offers instruction in anatomy, injuries and prevention, nutrition, kinesiology, creative movement, music, theory, choreography and issues that affect the dance community. Dance Masters of Canada invites, and encourages the membership of students in order to enhance foster, develop and enhance their education in the art of dance.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS:
STUDENT HONORS INTENSIVE PROGRAM (SHIP)
Is an educational journey for young emerging dancers ages 13-18 and prepares them for the job demands of the 21st century. It is a voyage through the classroom, that challenges the dancers' technical and artistic expression. SHIP is the pathway to the stage and natures the development of resourceful artists of the future. It consists of daily Master classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip hop, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. SHIP is located at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. TEACHERS TRAINING SCHOOL (TTS)
The Dance Masters of America Teachers Training School, motivates and inspires Dance Educators World Wide. This program is highly recommended for the long established educator as well as a teacher in training. Five intensive days of dance and study occur in the summer at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. They offer a 4-year teachers training program, post-graduate programs as well as college credits. For more information visit www.dmanational.org.
FALL CONVENTION
Our Chapter hosts an Annual Fall Convention, every October/November. With an outstanding faculty from across the nation, this is an excellent opportunity for our members and their students to take classes and brush up on their skills. The Annual convention features a day of classes for students, in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary and Hiphop, a Grand Body meeting, lunch is provided for members, and it will also include some type of workshop or round table discussions on topics related to teaching. This year we have added a Teacher Rejuvenation Day for teachers and members. The day includes teacher workshops that offer the latest teaching methods and tips, as well as a syllabus study for all interested members to learn from new reference materials developed by DMA and brush up on terminology. Studio participation at the Fall Convention is mandatory if students are wish to enter the P.A.C and/or Solo Title Competition for that fiscal year. This exciting day/weekend is time for our members to socialize, share problems, solutions, ideas and successes with their peers. Income from our Annual Fall Convention, as well as other projects, enable us to raise money for the scholarships given annually to our members and students. SCHOLARSHIP CLASSES
During the Fall Convention, students (all ages) may register to participate in scholarship opportunities where they are judged and awarded scholarships to the following years' convention plus cash prizes. JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP
It is a program designed specifically for young dancers between the ages of 12 and 18. It is meant for those who are interested in exploring what it means to be a dance teacher and member of DMA. It is a great way to get involved with the chapter at a non-competitive level. Our Jr. Members are comprised of multiple dance studio and are provided exclusive opportunities to further their education of the art of dance. For more information visit our Junior Membership page.
SOLO TITLE COMPETITION
Held annually, soloists compete in Petite/Master, Junior Miss/Mr., Teen Miss/Mr., Miss/Mr. Dance of Canada Title categories. The competition includes interviews, audition classes and the opportunity to learn an opening number in addition to a solo performance. Winners will receive a scholarship to attend the Dance Masters of America National Convention and represent Dance Masters of Canada in the National Solo Title Competition for the titles of Miss/Mr. Dance of America. PERFORMING ARTS COMPETITION
An annual competition in which solos, duets, trios and groups compete. Participants must have attended the DMC Fall Convention within the same calendar year. For more information visit our Competition page.
DMA NATIONAL CONVENTION
Dance Masters of America offers the most extensive and educational National Convention in North America. Ten days of education, competition, collaboration and camaraderie. Everything you want out of a National experience and then some. There are four workshops offer per day, both for 12 and under as well as 13 and over. The Performing Arts Competition (PAC) runs all week, scheduled opposite the workshops. PAC leads up to a Champions of Champions DanceOff as well as a Grand National Finals Competition for scholarship opportunities. Solo Title Competitions are held each evening, where you can watch the best talent in the country compete for the national titles of Miss/Mr. Dance of America. There are also opportunities to enjoy and meet new people such as the Welcome Party, President's Reception, and Awards Banquet. For more information visit www.dmanational.org.
